About Yazmin

Yazmin Infante Peña is a proud Afro-Dominican, born and raised in New York City. Being raised in a culturally Dominican household but existing in American society, she grew up feeling like she didn’t quite belong in either space. Speaking mostly English at home, her Spanish suffered and made her a target for shaming comments around her identity. As an adult, she made it her mission to learn Spanish and found acceptance with other Latin-Americans who shared similar experiences.

Now she wants to share her story and encourage those with Latin heritage to embrace their cultures: without or without Spanish.
